Audience Amplification
Challenge
Arena Music is an Australian business which delivers music for sports and entertainment brands with its core being live performances at sporting events. They bring a deep understanding of sport, reading the audience, identifying shifts in mood, and bringing a new energy that engages fans and enriches the total experience.
In its first 10 years, Arena Music has played to over 5 million people at events including Cricket Australia’s International matches, Big Bash League competitions and NRL finals.
Founded by audio engineer Greg O’Shea, Arena Music has recently grown from Greg personally performing, to training other sound engineers to develop skills in consultation, curation and performance. Arena Music required a new brand to reflect the business’ ambition for growth.
Solution
Through visual research the team identified a series of visual tropes that were common to great design for both music and sport – bright energetic colours, the emotion of the audience, bold graphics, movement that suggests the ebb and flow of a live experience.
The resulting brand for Arena Music is an emotive collision of music and sport. The intense RGB colours representing the dynamic range in Arena Music’s audio compositions.
The fractured image treatment suggests music and movement over time, while the coloured text blocking references blocks of sound on a timeline.
“Self-titled amplified our offering, in a way that truly resonates our values. The graphic brand language perfectly connects music with sport and captures the emotion of fan engagement. It confidently set us on a path to scale the business.”
