Revealing Spaces
Challenge
Bower Architecture is a Melbourne architecture and interior design practice formed in 2005. As the business approached their 10 year anniversary, an external business consultant identified the need to reach a broader audience beyond the personal referrals making up the majority of new business enquiries.
Self-titled began work on a clearly articulated brand positioning that better reflected their offer and future vision. We undertook a series of workshops and industry interviews which showed that once Bower were engaged, clients clients quickly became converts, but a large gap existed between this experience and the external perception.
Revealing Spaces
Bower work closely with their clients to gain a deep understanding of the people, place and conditions of every project. Informed by this interrogation, Bower provide creative solutions for their clients which reveal the spaces that were meant to be.
This insight informed the brand positioning “Revealing Spaces”, an idea which was expressed literally through a logo that reveals layers below, through to the tone of voice and the broader visual identity.

Revealing insights
There’s nothing like a person referral, and word of mouth has been integral to Bower’s growth, however it’s audience is very limited. Bower needed a way to get this good will in front of more prospective clients.
We created a simple system for visualising quotes and testimonials, and used them judiciously throughout Bower’s communications. Quotes were picked that revealed insights into the process (daunting for first time home builders) or emotional benefits (hard to capture in photography).
Results
Launched at their 10 year anniversary function, the new brand has been well received externally and helped crystallise the business direction internally.
A focus on proposal and credentials presentation materials has seen new business conversion grow steadily post rebrand.
“Self-titled invested the energy and time to understand our practice and generate a strong brand message, enabling effective communication of our architectural process and vision to clients across all project stages.”
