Ottoman 3 is a brow threading studio with multiple locations throughout Melbourne. Having introduced threading to Australia 10 years ago, Ottoman 3 brow artists have transformed over 600,000 eyebrows.
They use techniques practised for centuries in the Middle East, harnessing traditional ideals of symmetry and proportion to find and enhance individual beauty.
Founder Mini Latif approached Self-titled with a brief to reimagine the brand including the visual and verbal identity, website, marketing and an expanded product range.
Solution
We went back to the origins of brow threading, known as ‘khite/khait’ in the Middle East, and drew upon the rich cultural history referencing the Hammam (bath house), Iznik tiles and calligraphy.
The new wordmark and typeface embody characteristics of traditional Turkish calligraphy, while the colour palette takes cues from the traditional Turkish Hammam experience.
3 point measure
Ottoman 3 use a traditional three-point measuring technique to define the unique facial proportions of each customer. This was reinforced through a graphic representation that was applied throughout branded applications.
Amongst every touch point, this simple yet elegant design element encapsulates how the art of threading can enhance every individual face.
